For many aspiring actors and actresses, the dream of moving to America and making it in LA is still the ultimate goal. But what advice is out there for people seeking fame and fortune in Hollywood?

For decades, the dream of having your name in lights along Hollywood's iconic boulevards has long held a special place in the aspirations of wannabe actors and actresses the world over. 1. Don't put out

As the grim reality of making it in LA starts to loom rapidly into focus, it's no wonder that so many young people begin selling themselves short in a last ditch attempt to make it big. Agreeing to take on roles that involve nudity or controversial story lines can go on to colour the rest of an actor's career so if it's not something you want to do in the future don't do it now. 2. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty

The biggest concern for people working in acting is making ends meet. Moving to a different country in search of fame and fortune is an expensive business, as is keeping yourself well presented and well groomed in order to make the right kind of impression at a casting call. In between auditions and acting classes, there's nothing to stop you adding a bit of variety to your day whilst earning those all important bucks. Getting bar or cafe work is a great way of earning a steady income and will also give you an extra boost to escape the mundane and achieve your dreams. Furthermore, some of the silver screen's most famous names were first talent spotted working in blue collar jobs so whose to say you won't be able to network at the same time?

3. Don't isolate yourself

While it's important to keep your eyes on the prize at all times, be careful not to isolate yourself from friends and family back home. Moving abroad can be an overwhelming and lonely experience at the best of times so make sure to schedule in occasions to catch up with loved ones. Furthermore, enrolling in an acting class or actors union is a great opportunity to make like minded friends who will be able to relate and advise on the trials and tribulations of making it in LA.
